At Ameristar, we proudly support the communities where we live and work through our charitable giving program called Ameristar Cares. This three-part effort includes financial contributions to nonprofit organizations, our annual Team Member Workplace Giving Campaign and Team Member volunteerism.
During 2011, Ameristar and its Team Members donated more than $6.8 million to charitable organizations in the markets where we do business. Construction began July 2012 and we have already made progress. We are on schedule to open in the third quarter 2014.
Ameristar plans to create 1,500 permanent and 1,200 construction jobs, along with thousands of indirect jobs.
It takes a tremendous amount of local manpower to operate a casino resort. The available management positions will range from supervisory to executive-level in areas such as casino operations, hospitality management, human resources, information technology and restaurant management. Good paying, entry level positions ranging from dealers to slot technicians, valet runners, servers and environmental service attendants will also be available.
Ameristar has a rich history of promoting from within. Our Senior Vice President and General Manager of Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk began her career as a front-desk hotel clerk. This is just one example of our numerous success stories. There are no limits when you work for Ameristar.

Ameristar is committed to buying locally – a significant percentage of our purchases are made from vendors within a 100-mile radius of our casinos.
We help the communities in which we operate by paying state and local taxes, often at an effective tax rate that is much higher than that of most other businesses and industries. These payments support improvements to community infrastructure in the form of roads, community centers and education.

Ameristar is one of many large capital development projects under construction in Lake Charles. Adjacent to L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles, our premier property will further distinguish Lake Charles as a true destination resort serving southwestern Louisiana and southeastern Texas, including the Houston metropolitan area.
Ameristar’s resort will include a 700-room luxury hotel including 70 suites, a spa, outdoor resort and lazy river swimming pools, retail and a diverse offering of food and beverage options, offering everything from upscale restaurants to casual quick-serve outlets. There will also be entertainment and meeting space. Three thousand parking spaces, including 1,000 in a garage, will be provided.
Ameristar Casino Resort Spa Lake Charles will be a catalyst for tourism in southwestern Louisiana, bringing millions of new visitors to Lake Charles each year. That will positively impact hotels, restaurants and attractions that cater to tourists. There will be a positive indirect impact on the businesses that supply those hotels, restaurants and attractions.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is proposing the construction of interchange and roadway improvements to accommodate existing and projected future traffic demands along the I-210 corridor between Cove Lane and Nelson Road. Plans should be finalized by early 2013.
The safety and security of our guests and team members is of the utmost importance to Ameristar for its Lake Charles Casino Resort and Spa as well as at our existing properties. Our casinos have well-lit parking garages under constant video surveillance and are patrolled by trained security professionals. In all of the jurisdictions we operate, Ameristar has a close working relationship with local law enforcement and public safety officials. The same guest safety programs will be utilized in Lake Charles.
One minor loitering or gambling on our casino floor is one too many. Across the nation, Ameristar has one of the industry’s best track records at preventing and detecting underage individuals who are loitering or attempting to gamble in our casinos. The same programs utilized by Ameristar across the Company will be implemented in Lake Charles.
